Better Together
Founded in 2020 by Kathy Caruso, a lifelong Utica resident and dedicated special needs mom, Better Together was born out of a passion for supporting individuals with autism and disabilities. Kathy, alongside her husband Dan, has been advocating for nearly 30 years, building programs in schools, churches, and now the community at large.
What began as a
parent support and advocacy group has grown into a movement to address disparities, create opportunities, and bring families, caregivers, and agencies together for meaningful connection

Our Mission & Vision
At Better Together, our mission is to create an inclusive environment where individuals with and without disabilities can connect, share, and grow. We strive to:
- Foster community inclusiveness by bridging the gap between individuals with and without disabilities.
- Provide accessible services that promote meaningful interactions.
- Encourage lasting relationships through social, recreational, and educational opportunities.
Together with the Utica Center for Development, we cultivate a sensory-friendly space where everyone can participate fully, thrive, and experience a true sense of belonging
