Better Together

The Better Together Center, located in Utica, New York, is an inclusive recreation and sensory center that enriches the lives of individuals of all abilities. The Center provides a safe, welcoming environment where individuals can participate in recreational, educational, and social activities that promote independence, confidence, and meaningful community connections.

By bringing together individuals, caregivers, and community partners, the Better Together Center helps reduce social isolation while fostering inclusion and a true sense of belonging.

The Better Together Center is a program of the Utica Center for Development (UCD), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals and families throughout Central New York.

The Better Together Center, owned and operated by the Utica Center for Development, is dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment where individuals can build meaningful relationships, develop life skills, and participate in recreational, educational, and social opportunities.

Through compassionate support and community engagement, we strive to empower every individual to reach their fullest potential while fostering a culture of belonging, dignity, and inclusion.

What We've Done

Community Fun Nights – Partnering with organizations like the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department and Kelberman to build connections and increase access to essential services.

Listening & Learning Events – Hosting forums with elected officials and training first responders to better understand and serve individuals with autism and disabilities.

Family Advocacy & Support – Equipping parents, caregivers, and loved ones with resources, encouragement, and advocacy to navigate challenges

The Better Together Center

It provides a safe and enjoyable space where individuals can meet peers, relax, and engage in activities tailored for sensory comfort and community building.

The Center promotes a sense of belonging and fosters community inclusiveness, creating a welcoming environment for all, regardless of ability. Everyone deserves the opportunity to connect, socialize, build lasting relationships, and experience the true essence of community.
